About Tom Forster -
Is a classically trained portrait/figurative artist. I work primarily in oil and casein (a tempera paint using milk proteins as a binder) and charcoal for drawing. I have been drawing since a young child. My first oil painting was accomplished at 13. I have worked with various media. I studied Advertising Art at SUNY Farmingdale. I apprenticed under Chuck Lease, a freelance illustrator, for a 3-year period of time improving my illustration skills. I have worked as a freelance illustrator/artist. I also studied classical realism at LIAFA in Syosset, NY, under Robert Armetta and Steve Forster (no relation) for 7 years.

Open Studio: Independent Project

Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced level welcome.
Our open studio is a class featuring various forms of expression and medium. Bring your painting or drawing supplies and reference material to paint your family portrait, vacation photos, landscape, seascape, still life, master copy, abstraction, or any subject of your personal interest. All mediums are welcome, Tom has worked with oil, water-based mediums (watercolor, gouache, acrylic), pastels, and colored pencils. You will work on your individual projects while receiving expert individual guidance. Occasionally there are class lectures on various topics pertaining to art and painting.
All levels are welcome.
